Aircraft Import & Export Support

Importing or exporting an aircraft means registration changes, export and import documentation, customs clearance, and coordination between regulators, brokers, and delivery crews. Miss one step and the aircraft sits on the ramp.

JetRx keeps it moving. Our FAA-certified technicians prepare your aircraft for inspection, we file the required paperwork, and we work alongside an FAA Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) to secure the airworthiness certification you need. Whether you’re bringing an aircraft into the U.S. or sending one abroad, you have one point of contact the whole way.

What We Handle

From the first inspection to the final handoff, JetRx manages the technical and documentation work on both sides of the border.

Importing into the U.S.

  • Pre-import inspection and records review
  • Aircraft preparation for FAA DAR inspection
  • U.S. registration and documentation filing
  • Coordination with customs brokers and ferry crews
  • U.S. Standard Airworthiness Certificate, issued through an FAA DAR

Exporting from the U.S.

  • Export inspection and aircraft preparation
  • Deregistration and export documentation
  • Coordination with the destination country’s regulator
  • FAA Export Certificate of Airworthiness, issued through an FAA DAR
  • Handoff to brokers and delivery crews

Special Flight Permits (Ferry Permits)

Not every aircraft can fly on its standard airworthiness certificate. If yours is overdue for an inspection, needs repairs that can’t be done where it sits, or has to be delivered before certification is complete, it may still be able to make the trip on an FAA Special Flight Permit, commonly called a ferry permit.

Through our working relationship with an FAA DAR, JetRx helps you get one without the runaround. We inspect the aircraft, document that it’s safe for the intended flight, prepare the application, and coordinate issuance with the DAR, including any operating limitations for the flight.

Common reasons for a ferry permit

  • Flying to a repair or maintenance facility
  • Delivering or exporting an aircraft
  • Moving an aircraft out of the path of a hurricane or other impending danger
  • Repositioning an aircraft that is past due for an inspection

How It Works

  1. Consultation. Tell us about the aircraft, where it’s coming from or going, and your timeline. We map out what’s required.
  2. Inspection & preparation. Our A&P mechanics and IA inspectors inspect the aircraft, review the records, and address anything that needs attention before certification.
  3. Paperwork & certification. We file the documentation and present the aircraft to an FAA DAR for the airworthiness certificate, or for a ferry permit if the aircraft needs one to make the trip.
  4. Delivery. We coordinate with your broker, customs, and delivery crew so the aircraft leaves on schedule and arrives ready to fly.
